Pine Chest of Drawers

When looking to replace bedroom furniture choosing a pine chest of drawers is a good choice. Pine is a light colored wood which has some moth protection for your clothes. I tend to go with lighter colors for a bedroom including lighter tones for my wood furniture.

Darker wood gives me a dark and oppressive feeling and I don’t like that in the place where I need to relax and go to sleep. You can mix and match pine with lighter colors or white bedroom furniture. Actually the color of pine wood goes with just about anything but I don’t like to mix different shades of wood together in a room.

If I get a pine chest of drawers I’ll try to complement it with a pine table, headboard, or writing desk. When choosing to put a lot of light colored furniture into a room you might want to think about using a few things with dramatic colors because a lighter background will help the few more colorful items to stand out.

Some velvet curtains, a bright area rug, or a colorful or dramatic painting will draw the eye more if the other items in the room are not competing for attention. Light main colors with splashes of color are great for young girls going through that princess stage that many of them seem to go through.

Faux pine is what is most commonly available. A true solid wooden piece of furniture will be expensive because most of what is available is wood pieces pressed together and then covered with a faux wood finish. When you are purchasing something that claims to be pine most of the time you are just getting a pine finish which of course requires some assembly.

I’m getting pretty good at assembling furniture but drawers can be tricky. Make sure when assembling your dresser you take time to read and understand the instructions before you start putting the drawers and their tracks (if it has tracks) in place. Just take your time and understand as much as you can about the assembly process and the putting together of your furniture should go pretty smoothly.

You can’t really go wrong when choosing a pine chest of drawers for your bedroom even if you are slightly decoratively challenged like I am. It’ll give you storage and good looks for years to come from a nursery to the elderly.
