Should I Buy a Refurbished Cell Phone

The decision of whether or not to buy a refurbished cell phone is a personal one and no one can answer that question but you.  You can however find out about them and that will help you to make the decision.

One of the first decisions you need to make is whether or not you want all the latest and greatest options.  If you like to be on the cutting edge of cell phone technology then I'm afraid a refurbished cell phone is probably not a good option.

If you are in the market to simply make calls and text then the refurbished cell phone option could be a good one for you.

The more bells and whistles a cell phone has the less likely the refurbished option will be cost effective for you.  If the company you choose to purchase the cell phone from has a decent warranty program a camera or video recording cell phone is an option.

The more things that could go wrong with you cell phone the better you will want the warranty to be.

Most refurbished phones that are purchased from the carrier are phones that were purchased and then within the 30 return (standard with most carriers) period the purchaser decided they did not want the phone and returned it.

The phone would have then been "restored to factory standards" and can at that point be resold as a non new cell phone.

If you were to purchase a cheap refurbished AT&T cell phone - from AT&T - you could be looking at a price of anywhere from Free to $250.00 depending on your contract and how fancy a phone you would want to buy.

There a lot of internet options when deciding where to purchase your phone from but you need to make sure the phone you want will work with the carrier you want to use.  Keep an eye out for phones with the description of "Unlocked" that simply means they have not been programmed to work with a particular carrier.

I've used AT&T as an example but all cell phone companies have the refurbished option and I am not suggestion that they are your only option.

Find out if the cell phone you are interested in comes with a SIM card included and if it does not you'll want to figure the price of one into your cost.  The SIM card is what makes the phone realize that it belongs to you and that is where most information is saved.

Good luck finding your new cell phone.
