3 Way Backlinks

 3 Way Backlinks are the new reciprocal linking strategy.  It used to be that you’d give a link to another site and they’d link back to you and it would count as an incoming link.  Google decided some time ago that reciprocal links were to be discounted by their search engines.  People of course came up with a new linking strategy which they call 3 way linking.

The basic premise is that you link to my website a and I’ll link back to you with my website b which, in theory, negates the whole reciprocal effect of the links.  It also has the side benefit of keeping the link juice moving if I link site a and b together with a one way link.

Of course having even more sites in the link swap is better and disguises the pseudo reciprocal links even more but then you get into the whole blog farm thing which is way too complicated for me.  I’m a simple person and not great at being sneaky.

I’m kind of lazy and tend to avoid these types of situations I stick to my HubPages and InfoBarrels to get backlinks it is easier that way.  Much less plotting and planning and talking to people.  Too much writing though if I wasn’t so cheap I’d invest in one of those automatic writing programs and save on my fingers.  Being both cheap and lazy means that I have many fewer options than most bloggers when it comes to how to create and link together my sites.

For people who are more energetic than I am this strategy works wonderfully, or so they claim.  I have used the occasional 3 way link but I do it so seldom that I really cannot tell what affect it had on my blogs and I never check to see if the other guy decided to remove my link from their site. 

Speaking of removing links, you do need to keep an eye on things if you get involved in a lot of these 3 way links.  You really cannot trust strange webmasters until you get to know them a bit.  Keep a list of who you’ve linked to and check on them occasionally to ensure that your links are still in place.

Feel free to use 3 way backlinks just remember that there are always more things involved than you’d originally thought.  There always seems to be more work involved than it sounds like at the beginning.  This article is kind of short but there’s just not much more to say about 3 way backlinks.
